Cover Lift Davit System Allows Safe, Easy Access to Dryer Interior for Cleaning
Witte Design Eliminates Confined Space Entry Hazard
Washington, NJ: Vibrating fluid bed dryers and coolers from process equipment manufacturer The Witte Co., Washington, New Jersey (www.witte.com), feature a novel cover lift davit system that enables the cover to be safely, quickly and easily removed without tools. Eliminating the traditional portholes that limit access to the dryer interior, the Witte cover lift davit system invites full access to the entire interior via manual winch to promote complete cleaning, thorough visual inspection, and speedy maintenance with reduced downtime. By allowing full, open access, the cover lift davit system eliminates the confined space hazard along with concern for compliance with OSHA’s 29 CFR 1910.146 regulating permit-required confined space entry.
Based on U.S. Navy technology developed for raising and lowering lifeboats, the Witte cover lift is proven in hundreds of installations worldwide and included as standard equipment on compact fluid bed drying systems. For large and multi-zone fluid bed drying systems, the company offers a motorized hoist system that automatically raises the dryer cover at the push of a button. The cover lift systems operate in tandem with the company’s signature C-20 clamps that release the cover for lifting without tools to eliminate the use of bolted systems along with their need for time-intensive disassembly to access the interior.
