Witte Dryer Solutions

Witte Fluidized Bed Dryers

Witte Vibrating Fluid Bed Dryers utilize the same technology and operate in the same fashion as our fluid bed coolers.

Originally developed in the late 1940s, Witte Vibrating Fluid Bed Dryers have garnered a reputation as an industry leader in the powder and bulk solids processing world. As a leading stainless fluid bed dryer manufacturer, Witte engineers have relied on input from its customer base to continuously improve the design and offer features targeted at special applications.

Fluid Bed Dryer

What is a Fluid Bed Dryer:

Fluidized bed dryers consist of an enclosed vessel with a porous conveying surface extending from end to end. The porous conveying surface allows air to pass up through it and the vibrating, flowing bed of materials. With this type of action, a high degree of product buoyancy or fluidization occurs, resulting in maximum air contact with the particle surfaces. The material is handled gently, there is a negligible amount of product degradation. These Dryers typically operate continuously. Batch Fluid Beds Dryers are available for processes that require single-batch processing.

applications

Sizes and Capacities:

Witte Fluid Bed Dryers are built according to your application. Sizes range from 6 square FT to 162 square FT for a single unit. Variables such as product moisture content, material throughput, air temperature, and airflow rate determine dryer size. Capacities vary from a few hundred pounds per hour up to 30-40 tons per hour.

Features

Key Features that Set Witte Dryers Apart:

  • Uniform Airflow: The combination of our proprietary wedge wire conveying surface and air distribution cages results in uniform airflow characteristics throughout the fluid bed area.
  • Simple Vibratory Drives: For reliable, around-the-clock operation, Witte Fluid Bed Processors feature our eccentric weight drives. The design allows adjustment of drive frequency for different product characteristics and does not transmit large forces through its base.
  • Adjustable Retention Time: Product retention time and subsequent bed depth can be adjusted through the use of cycling weirs and adjustment of vibratory frequency.
  • Access for Cleaning: Witte equipment is always built with operator cleaning requirements in mind. Hand clamps allow tools less access to interior sections and standard cover hoists raise the air cover and conveying surfaces.
  • Minimal Product Attrition: Witte Vibrating Fluid Bed Dryers handle products with minimal impact, allowing fragile products to be processed with next to no breakage. The low frequency and amplitude vibration provide supplemental movement that ensures the product gently advances downstream in a first-in-first-out manner.
  • Stationary Base: Unlike many competitors, Witte Fluid Bed Processors feature an oversized machine base that allows easier installation and process integration. Witte units can be mounted on above-grade steel mezzanines when needed.
  • Complete System Integration: Witte designs, specifies, and manufactures much of the auxiliary equipment needed to ensure every element within our system works as intended. Our expertise includes gas furnaces, dust collectors, air handling blowers, heat transfer coils, and other equipment that play a critical role in overall system performance.
